Course Description
21st Century Christian Ethics
This course explores emerging ethical challenges of the 21st century. These challenges are often neglected in churches. Using a biblical worldview, students will engage in critical reflection. They will practice ethical reasoning and apply it to contemporary issues. Some of these issues include AI, cryptocurrency, alien and UAP/UFO, transhumanism, cancel culture, digital integrity, nationalism, and gender identity.
Course Objectives
Cognitive
• Discern and dissect contemporary ethical issues in light of biblical principles and Christian theology.
Affective
• Develop a spirit of discernment and dedication in engaging with modern moral challenges while maintaining biblical integrity.
Volitional
• Deploy ethical decision-making principles to real-world issues, demonstrating wisdom and biblical faithfulness in ministry and daily life.

Session 1: Technology and Transcendence

• AI Technology and Faith – The impact of artificial intelligence. Automation and machine learning affect human identity, morality, and ministry.
• Celestial Alien Influence – A biblical perspective on extraterrestrial life, UFO phenomena, and their theological implications.
• Transhumanism and Bioethics – The Christian response to genetic modification. It also addresses cybernetic enhancements and the pursuit of human “immortality” through science.

Course Requirements
Participation in Live Discussions and Comments for self-paced students (40%) – Engaging in case studies and group discussions.
Ethical Position Paper (30%) – A 3-page reflection on one ethical issue and its biblical response.
Final Ethical Response Plan (30%) – A practical plan for addressing a contemporary ethical challenge in a ministry setting.
