I. Purpose of the Award
The Master of Theology Honoris Causa (Th.M. Hon.) is a prestigious honorary degree awarded to distinguished Christian leaders, theologians, and educators who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to theological education, doctrinal integrity, and ministerial impact. This honorary degree is not an academic degree but a recognition of a lifetime of theological excellence and faithful service in advancing biblical scholarship and Christian ministry.
II. Qualifications for Conferment
A nominee for the Th.M. Honoris Causa must meet the following minimum qualifications:
1. Theological and Ministerial Leadership
- A proven and sustained commitment to Christian ministry, with a minimum of 20 years in theological education, pastoral ministry, Christian research, or doctrinal teaching.
- A recognized authority in biblical studies, theology, apologetics, or systematic doctrine, having significantly influenced theological thought and ministerial practice.
- A history of mentoring, training, or discipling other Christian leaders, contributing to the theological and doctrinal maturity of the Body of Christ.
2. Significant Contribution to Christian Theology
- Authorship of notable theological works, including books, articles, or research that have advanced biblical and doctrinal understanding.
- Founding, leading, or significantly contributing to Bible colleges, seminaries, or theological training programs that equip ministers and lay leaders.
- Participation in conferences, symposiums, or theological dialogues that promote biblical truth, sound doctrine, and theological scholarship.
3. Moral and Doctrinal Integrity
- A life exemplified by integrity, humility, and faithfulness to biblical principles.
- Doctrinal alignment with the theological stance of Mobile Bible School (MBS) and a clear testimony of unwavering commitment to Christ-centered teaching.
- A respected reputation within the Christian community for sound doctrine and biblical accuracy in ministry.
4. Recognition by the Christian and Academic Community
- The nominee must be recognized by at least three respected Christian leaders (e.g., pastors, theologians, or seminary presidents).
- The nominee must have achieved national or international recognition for extraordinary service to biblical scholarship, theological education, or doctrinal teaching.
III. Ethical Standards in Honorary Conferment
To maintain the integrity and credibility of Mobile Bible School, the following ethical principles apply:
- The Th.M. Honoris Causa is awarded solely on merit and theological contributions. It is not for sale and cannot be obtained in exchange for financial support, political influence, or personal relationships.
- Recipients must use the title with integrity, ensuring that it is not misrepresented as an academic or earned degree.
- The honorary degree must be utilized for ministry and educational purposes in a way that glorifies God and upholds biblical truth.
IV. Sole Approval Authority
1. Nomination & Recommendation
- Candidates may be nominated by MBS faculty, Christian organizations, seminaries, or church leaders.
- A formal letter of recommendation, a biography, ministry history, and documentation of theological contributions must be submitted.
2. Evaluation & Screening
- Dr. Rhoderick De Vera, Founding President of MBS, will personally review and assess each nomination.
- Background checks and verifications will be conducted to ensure compliance with MBS standards.
3. Final Approval
- Dr. Rhoderick De Vera holds exclusive authority to approve and confer the Th.M. Honoris Causa without requiring board approval.
4. Conferral Ceremony
- The honorary degree will be conferred at a designated recognition event or graduation ceremony at MBS.
- Recipients will receive a certificate, citation, and public acknowledgment of their contributions to Christian theology.
V. Implementation and Review
- This policy takes immediate effect and remains under the sole discretion of Dr. Rhoderick De Vera, Founding President of Mobile Bible School.
- Periodic reviews and updates may be conducted to ensure continued adherence to biblical and ministerial standards.
