Understanding Credit Units
Credit Unit
In our academic system, the unit of credit is the semester hour. Each credit unit corresponds to one semester hour of instructional time. For example, a three-credit course involves a total of three hours of instruction per week. Most virtual classes at Mobile Bible School (MBS) typically meet for 1-3 hours per session. Online videos are generally limited to a maximum of one to two hours, unless the content is part of a recorded livestream.
Module Credits
Courses are divided into modules, which are generally assigned 2-3 credit units depending on the subject matter. Time spent on reading, meditation, studying the Bible, and participating in Bible studies may also be considered for credit. To ensure these activities are recognized, please report them to your mentor for evaluation.
Ladderized Program Credits
Students can earn credits for each subject based on their course requirements. In our ladderized program, every 15 credit units earned will necessitate a payment of miscellaneous fees for progression to the next level or course. This structure is due to the fact that each course at Mobile Bible School is designed to be completed within a 15-unit credit framework. Accumulating credits towards advancing to the next level requires this payment to cover administrative and additional course-related expenses.
Student Classification
Student Classification
Student classification at Mobile Bible School (MBS) is determined based on the number of credit hours completed for core subject requirements. The classification is divided into two main levels: Undergraduate and Graduate.
UNDERGRADUATE LEVEL

GRADUATE LEVEL

At Mobile Bible School, we follow a non-semestral fast-track online system. This allows our students to progress by level or term. It provides a flexible and efficient learning experience tailored to their individual pace.
Student’s Orientation
All new students, including freshmen and transfer students, are required to complete the orientation program before the start of classes. This essential program will introduce you to the educational objectives of Mobile Bible School (MBS), outline the academic program, and provide detailed instructions on both our online and offline learning procedures.
To successfully complete the orientation, carefully read and review the information provided on this “Student Guide” webpage. Doing so will ensure that you are well-prepared and informed about your upcoming academic journey with us.
Additionally, a total of 1 credit unit will be recorded in your Transcript of Records (TOR) upon successful completion of the Google Form quiz related to this orientation.
Online and Offline Students
I. Online Students
A student enrolled at MBS who does not attend classes on campus or church seminars and completes his/her studies over the Internet.
Mobile Bible School offers two types of subjects to ensure accessibility for students:
- Inclusive Subjects: These subjects are open to both enrolled and non-enrolled students. Anyone can join the Zoom classes, and the video classes are also livestreamed for wider participation.
- Exclusive Subjects: Only enrolled students who have officially paid for the specific subject are given access to the exclusive Zoom links and materials.
Note: All students, whether at the graduate or undergraduate level, can enroll in any subject offered by MBS. However, they must pay per unit for cross-course subjects or customized curriculum, but the rate is according to their level. This will appear on their Transcript of Records (TOR) under a ladderized system. If a subject was paid at a lower rate per unit, students must still pay the rate according to their level on graduation day or when they claim their e-diploma or transcript.
II. Offline Students
Specialized Subjects
Specialized subjects at Mobile Bible School (MBS) can be categorized as follows:
A. Seminars
Seminars are focused educational sessions designed to provide in-depth knowledge on specific topics related to our curriculum. Seminars can be classified into two categories:
1. Free or Sponsored Seminars
These seminars are offered at no cost to students. They are either fully sponsored by MBS or supported by external partners and organizations. Participation in these seminars allows students to gain valuable insights and practical knowledge without any financial obligation.
2. Non-Free Seminars
These seminars require a registration fee, which covers the costs associated with food, lodging, and other logistical arrangements, if applicable. The fee structure is determined based on the seminar’s location and duration. Students are required to pay this fee in advance to secure their participation. The registration fee ensures that all necessary arrangements are made to facilitate a smooth and enriching seminar experience.
B. Specialized Mentoring or Tutorial Sessions
As part of our commitment to academic excellence, we offer Specialized Mentoring Sessions designed to provide personalized guidance and in-depth learning opportunities. Students may choose from the following formats:
1. In-Person Mentoring
Students may engage in face-to-face mentoring sessions with experienced instructors, allowing for direct interaction and real-time feedback. Each session has a duration of at least one hour and requires an additional fee of ₱1,000 per session. Upon successful participation, a Certificate of Completion may be issued upon request.
2. Online Mentoring
For those who prefer remote learning, online mentoring sessions are available through designated virtual platforms. These sessions follow the same structured approach and are offered at the following rates:
- ₱600 per hour – for sessions with Certificate Level Professors
- ₱700 per hour – for sessions with Diploma Level Professors
- ₱800 per hour – for sessions with Certificate Level Professors
- ₱1,000 per hour – for sessions with Doctorate Level Professors
Each online session includes an additional 30 minutes to 1 hour allocated for interactive discussions and inquiries. A Certificate of Completion may also be provided upon request.
Both in-person and online mentoring sessions contribute to the student’s credit units and serve as valuable academic enrichment opportunities. We encourage all students to take advantage of these specialized sessions to enhance their learning experience and professional development.
Six Types of MBS Online Students and Their Course Load
Mobile Bible School Inc. understands that students have different schedules, learning capacities, ministry responsibilities, and personal situations. Because of this, MBS provides flexible learning pathways for different kinds of online students.
Not all students learn in the same way. Some students can attend live classes regularly, while others need to study through modules, recordings, or self-paced lessons. Some students take only one course, while others are enrolled in a ladderized program where their subjects and credit units are accumulated toward a higher academic level.
To help every student understand their learning category, MBS identifies six types of online students and their usual course load.
1. Correspondence Students
Correspondence Students are students who study mainly through written lessons, modules, soft-copy materials, or printed materials.
They may not always attend live online classes due to work, ministry, location, internet issues, or schedule conflicts. Instead, they complete their lessons and requirements through guided correspondence.
Course Load
Correspondence students may take subjects depending on their available time and capacity. They may study one subject at a time or complete assigned modules according to the school’s instruction.
Best For
This is ideal for students who:
- Have limited internet access
- Cannot attend Zoom classes regularly
- Prefer reading and written lessons
- Need more time to complete requirements
- Are serving in ministry while studying
Student Responsibility
Correspondence students must carefully read the assigned materials, complete activities, answer requirements honestly, and communicate with the school when submission or clarification is needed.
2. Modular Students
Modular Students are students who study through structured modules prepared by Mobile Bible School Inc.
Each module contains organized lessons, topics, activities, reflections, and requirements. The student follows the module sequence and completes the required outputs.
Course Load
Modular students usually take subjects by module. Each subject may be divided into several lessons or units. The course load depends on the number of subjects or modules assigned to the student.
Best For
This is ideal for students who:
- Want organized step-by-step lessons
- Prefer guided self-study
- Need flexible learning time
- Want to complete academic requirements through modules
- Are comfortable studying independently
Student Responsibility
Modular students must complete the lessons properly, submit requirements when needed, and make sure that they understand the subject before moving forward.
3. Livestream or Zoom Class Students
Livestream or Zoom Class Students are students who attend real-time online classes through Zoom, livestream, or other online teaching platforms.
They learn directly from instructors during scheduled sessions and may participate in discussion, prayer, recitation, lecture, and interactive learning.
Course Load
Livestream or Zoom students usually follow the scheduled class subject being taught. Their course load depends on the number of live classes, subjects, or sessions they attend.
Best For
This is ideal for students who:
- Prefer live teaching
- Want real-time interaction with teachers
- Learn better through discussion
- Can attend scheduled online classes
- Want classroom-style learning from home
Student Responsibility
Zoom students must attend classes faithfully, listen attentively, partic
4. Hybridized Students
Hybridized Students are students who combine different learning methods.
They may attend Zoom classes, watch recorded lessons, study modules, submit written requirements, and use correspondence learning when needed.
This is one of the most flexible types of online learning at MBS because it allows students to continue their studies even if they cannot always follow one fixed method.
Course Load
Hybridized students may carry a mixed course load. They may complete some subjects through live classes, others through modules, and others through recorded or correspondence learning.
Best For
This is ideal for students who:
- Have changing schedules
- Sometimes attend live class but not always
- Want both teacher guidance and self-paced study
- Need flexibility because of ministry or work
- Prefer a combination of learning methods
Student Responsibility
Hybridized students must track their own progress carefully, know which subjects they are taking, complete all missing requirements, and communicate with the school regarding their course status.
5. Ladderized Program Students
Ladderized Program Students are students enrolled in the step-by-step academic pathway of MBS.
In the ladderized program, students may progress from one level to another as they complete subjects, credit units, and academic requirements.
The ladderized pathway may include:
- Certificate Level
- Diploma Level
- Associate Level
- Bachelor Level
- Master Level 1
- Master Level 2
- Doctorate Level
Course Load
Ladderized students usually take subjects that are credited toward their academic level. Their course load may include core subjects, major subjects, electives, ministry training, modules, or other required academic activities.
The number of subjects may vary depending on the student’s program, previous credits, completed requirements, and academic evaluation.
Best For
This is ideal for students who:
- Want to continue from one level to another
- Desire long-term theological education
- Want their subjects credited toward a higher program
- Are pursuing ministry preparation or academic advancement
- Need a clear educational pathway
Student Responsibility
Ladderized students must complete the required subjects, monitor their credit units, follow the curriculum, and coordinate with the school regarding their academic standing and next level of study.
6. AI-Assisted Self-Paced Students
Mobile Bible School Inc. is a pioneering Bible school that introduces AI-assisted learning as part of its online theological education program, envisioned to become one of the first schools worldwide to integrate AI-assisted study support into a self-paced Bible school system. Through this innovation, MBS provides a modern and flexible way for students to access, review, and understand biblical, theological, and ministry lessons more efficiently.
AI-Assisted Self-Paced Students are students who use MBS-approved AI-assisted learning support as part of their study process. This system helps them study lessons, review subjects, organize notes, clarify difficult terms, prepare outlines, and improve their understanding while learning at their own pace.
This learning model was envisioned by the founder, Rev. Dr. Rhoderick A. de Vera, to maximize the leveraging power of AI assistants in Christian education. The purpose is to lessen the time needed for studying, reviewing, and organizing lessons while maintaining quality teaching based on the curriculum and lessons prepared for Mobile Bible School Inc.
Through AI-assisted learning, students can review lessons anytime, ask guided questions, request simpler explanations, and revisit difficult topics repeatedly. This makes learning more efficient, flexible, and accessible, especially for pastors, church workers, professionals, parents, and ministry leaders who cannot always attend scheduled classes.
However, MBS firmly teaches that AI is only a learning assistant. It does not replace the Bible, the teacher, prayer, personal study, spiritual formation, or academic responsibility. The Word of God remains the final authority, and the student remains responsible for honest learning, careful reflection, and faithful application.
Students must not use AI to avoid studying or to copy answers without understanding. Instead, they should use it wisely to support deeper learning, clearer thinking, and better organization of their academic work.
AI helps make learning efficient, but faithfulness makes learning fruitful.
Course Load
AI-assisted self-paced students may take one or more subjects depending on their program and capacity. Their course load may be completed through modules, recorded lessons, guided AI learning, assignments, and school evaluation.
This type is especially helpful for students who need flexible study time and additional explanation while learning independently.
Best For
This is ideal for students who:
- Want to study at their own pace
- Need help understanding difficult lessons
- Prefer guided but flexible learning
- Want to review lessons repeatedly
- Are working, pastoring, or serving while studying
- Need support in organizing assignments and notes
Student Responsibility
AI-assisted students must use AI responsibly. They must not simply copy answers without understanding. They must personally study, reflect, verify biblical truth, and submit honest academic work.
AI is a support tool, not a substitute for Christian discipline and personal learning.

Important Reminder to All MBS Students
Whatever type of student you are, your learning journey requires faithfulness, discipline, humility, and responsibility.
MBS provides flexible pathways, but flexibility does not mean carelessness. Every student is expected to take learning seriously, complete requirements honestly, communicate properly, and grow spiritually.
The goal of MBS is not only to help students finish courses, but to equip faithful servants of God for biblical understanding, theological maturity, and effective ministry.
Learn faithfully. Study responsibly. Grow spiritually. Serve fruitfully.
Learning Method
Synchronous Learning (Real-Time Learning)
Definition:
Synchronous learning refers to a type of online education where students and teachers meet at the same time in a virtual environment. This is done through live sessions using platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, or similar tools.
Key Features:
- Follows a fixed schedule
- Includes live interaction between teacher and students
- Questions and feedback happen in real time
- Functions like a traditional classroom but conducted online
Examples:
- Live Zoom or Google Meet classes
- Real-time Q&A during live streams
- Group discussions that take place during scheduled sessions
Advantages:
- Immediate feedback and clarification
- Encourages interaction and engagement
- Builds a sense of learning community
Challenges:
- Requires a stable internet connection
- May not be suitable for those with limited time availability
Asynchronous Learning (Flexible-Time Learning)
Definition:
Asynchronous learning refers to a type of online education where students access course materials at their own time and pace, without the need to attend live sessions.
Key Features:
- No required meeting time
- Lessons are accessed through pre-recorded videos, PDFs, or learning platforms
- Students can learn independently, based on their own schedules
- Communication is done through messages, emails, or learning platforms
Examples:
- Watching recorded lectures
- Reading modules and submitting assignments online
- Completing assessments via online forms or learning portals
Advantages:
- Offers flexibility for students with varying schedules
- Lessons can be reviewed multiple times
- More accessible for those with limited internet bandwidth
Challenges:
- No real-time interaction unless scheduled
- Delayed feedback from instructors
- Requires a high level of self-discipline and motivation
Application in Mobile Bible School (MBS)
At Mobile Bible School, both synchronous and asynchronous methods are used to support flexible learning. Students may join live classes via Zoom (synchronous) or access recorded lectures and downloadable modules to study at their own pace (asynchronous). This model allows pastors, church workers, and students to grow in biblical knowledge and leadership without being bound by time or location.
Grading System
Grade Point Average (GPA) Calculation
The Grade Point Average (GPA) at Mobile Bible School (MBS) is calculated using the 4-Point Scale U.S. Grading System. This system assigns grade points on a scale from 0.00 to 4.00, where 4.00 represents the highest possible grade and 0.00 represents a failing mark.
Grading Scale:

Calculation Method:
- Assign Grade Points: Each grade received in a course is assigned a corresponding grade point value according to the scale above.
- Multiply by Credit Units: The grade points for each course are multiplied by the number of credit units assigned to the course.
- Sum the Total Grade Points: Add together all the multiplied values to get the total grade points.
- Sum the Total Credit Units: Add together all the credit units for the courses completed.
- Divide to Find GPA: Divide the total grade points by the total credit units to calculate the GPA.
For example, if a student earns an A (4.00) in a 3-credit course and a B (3.00) in a 2-credit course, the GPA calculation would be as follows:
- Total Grade Points: (4.00 x 3) + (3.00 x 2) = 12.00 + 6.00 = 18.00
- Total Credit Units: 3 + 2 = 5
- GPA: 18.00 / 5 = 3.60
This GPA provides a quantitative measure of a student’s academic performance, reflecting their average grade across all completed courses.
Grading Enhancement:
To improve your grade, students are encouraged to:
- Complete Assignments: Submit all assigned work, if applicable.
- Provide Feedback: Share insights, “rhema” (revelations), and takeaways in the comments section of each video lesson.
- Submit Reaction Papers: For comprehensive evaluation, submit a reaction paper on the entire subject via email to mobilebibleschoolinc@gmail.com.
- Participate in Zoom Sessions (Optional): Joining and interacting during Zoom meetings is optional but may contribute to your grade.
- Take Exams: While exams are not always required, completing them when available can positively affect your grade.
Grade Evaluation:
Grades are evaluated with the opportunity to achieve cum laude or valedictorian status based on your performance and engagement throughout the course.
Attendance Policies (Class Attendance)
Attendance Policy for Online Students
Students are expected to attend all virtual class sessions. Each absence, regardless of the reason, will be recorded. Absences are noted for every credit hour missed.
To accommodate unforeseen circumstances such as illness or emergencies, students should reserve their absences for such situations. If a student misses a virtual class, they are encouraged to watch or re-watch the recorded sessions of the missed class. To ensure that the absence is properly accounted for, students must inform their online mentor once they have completed watching the recorded or uploaded videos for their current subject. This will allow the missed session to be noted as present.
Attendance Policy for Offline Students
Regular attendance and punctuality are required for all offline classes. Students must provide an excuse letter or an online message through any official means if they miss a class.
Attendance and Grading Policy for Modular Students
Attendance Requirements:
- Video Viewing: To ensure attendance, students must comment on each video series they watch from start to finish. Comments should reflect honest engagement with the content. Failure to comment will result in a lack of attendance record.
- Attendance Mark: Viewing videos without commenting will result in a default grade of 79% (C, 1.0, Poor). For details on the grading system, please refer to our Grading System page cited above.
Grades are evaluated to give you the opportunity to achieve cum laude or valedictorian status. This is based on your performance and engagement throughout the course.
Dropping Subjects
Subject Drop Policy
If a student wishes to drop a subject, they must notify the registrar via email or other official messaging channels. Failure to communicate with the registrar will result in all unattended subjects being marked as failed.
Attendance Requirements:
- Failure to Notify: If the registrar does not receive any communication regarding a student’s absence, all subjects with insufficient attendance will fail. This indicates inadequate notification by the student. Such subjects must be repeated in a subsequent term.
- Video Viewing and Make-Up Work: The advantage of online learning is that students can review or re-watch recorded live streams. They can also access downloadable videos available on our social media site (website). These resources help students catch up on missed content.
- Drop Due to Inactivity: If a student does not watch the recorded videos, the course will be dropped. The same applies if they do not complete the required coursework within three months of starting the course or subject. The student will need to re-register for the same or a different course to continue their studies.
Important Note: To avoid any disruptions in your academic progress, please ensure timely communication with the registrar. Actively engage with all course materials as required. If you become inactive, we’ve made a grace-based remedy to avoid the heavier burden of repaying the full tuition. Instead, You can reactivate your enrollment by simply paying the ₱1000 miscellaneous fee again. This small step helps you return without financial strain.
Transferee and Re-Admission Policy
Transfer Students
Students who wish to transfer credits from other educational institutions to Mobile Bible School (MBS) must submit the following documents:
- Official Transcripts: Provide official transcripts from the previously attended institution that detail the courses completed and grades received.
